Obituary for Eleanor Hampton

Ellen was born and raised in New Green Manchester, Jamaica to Josephine (Mammie) and Charles (Pappy) Roberts. One of seventeen children, the Roberts family was close-knit and the children were taught to be loving and caring.

Ellen attending New Green School and was a bright and eager student. She married Bryan Lemon and moved to Borito Cresent in Maudeville where they produced three children, two of which preceded her in death.
Along with her sister Eletca, she owned and operated the famous ‘Penguin Restaurant” until her migration to the United States. She worked as a nursing assistant in the radiology department at Bronx Lebenon for 27 years until her retirement in 1992.

Ellen shared her love with one and all. She gave her opinion freely and was not afraid to be blunt and direct. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, friend and confidant. Her loss leaves a giant hole in our hearts.

Ellen leaves behind: brother Edward; daughter Melody; son-in-law Gerald; grandchildren Ericka, Jamar, Carl, Christen, Chelsea, and Corey; daughter-in-law Fern; sisters-in-law Gladys and Gretal; countless nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, friends and Fred, her constant companion and caregiver.
