Obituary

Lula Lee Carmon also known as “Cissy” was born in Kinston (Lenoir County) North Carolina on June
20 th 1916, to the late Rebie and Lemuel Fisher. She was one of 10 children.

In her early life Lula worked on a farm and helped take care of her siblings. She met and married Major
Carmon on July 3 rd 1937. Their union lasted 62 years. Lula followed her husband to New York where
they settled in the Bronx in 1944.

Lula gifts for sewing led her to become a seamstress in a factory for many years.
Lula was extremely dedicated to her church. She joined Family Baptist Church and was an active member
for many years. She was an usher. She was also taught Sunday school and also held different positions at
the church.

Lula had some favorite sayings that she instilled in her family and friends she said, “Don’t forget to pray
and read your bible”. There was another saying that she is known for and it was “So long for now”,
because she never liked to say goodbye.

Lula loved traveling to visit her relatives. It brought her great joy in all her endeavors.
Lula came to be known as a very loving and caring woman, always willing to give a helping hand and a
meal and a place to stay. Lula was filled with love and kindness and untold generosity as the matriarch of
the family. Lula was greatly respected by all for her wisdom.
Lula will be extremely missed.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Eugene Fisher (Bish) Joe Jasper Fisher (Hart) Retha Mae Croom
(Honey) Mildred Pettiford Archie Fisher (Mutt) Rebie Hartley Essie Brown Henry Fisher (Buddy) Helen
Potter.

Lula departed this life on January 1 st 2023 with the hope of going to be with her lord. She is survived by
her daughter Clara Flowers, her grandchildren Larry Flowers, Andrea Johnson and Mitzi Dejesus, great
grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew Larry Brown and niece
Melody Potter. She (Lula) was also the godmother to Melody Potter William Albert Hardie Tommy
Brown Calvin Pettiford and Octavious Brown.
Lula also was survived by a host of wonderful, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved
very much.
