Obituary for Teresa L Williams

Teresa L. Nickoless was born on June 19, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John T. Nickoless and Marie R. Nickoless.

Family has always been important to Teresa. She was raised in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn, where she, her brother, and all her cousins grew up like siblings. Some of her fondest childhood memories included summer camp, family reunions, and of course her father’s ice cream truck.

In 1972 she graduated from Midwood High School in Brooklyn, New York. Teresa met James Williams and the couple married in 1974. From this 17 year union came children: Tyrone, Sharrell, and Tiffany.

After the birth of Tiffany, Teresa went to work for the City of New York. Over approximately 30 years she moved up the ladder, retiring as a trainer for New York City HRA in 2016. Upon her retirement, Teresa spent her time spoiling her grandchildren, traveling, and serving on her family reunion committee. She enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, and hosting various celebrations and events with her daughter, Tiffany. She was always a great hostess who was willing and able to go the extra mile for her guests.

Terry, as friends and family referred to her, had a huge personality. She was energetic, outgoing, hilarious, and never afraid to tell you like it was. Her personality was just as bold as her cherry red hair and long eyelashes, which she never would be caught in public without. She has left a lasting impression on everyone who has come across her. Her laughter and smile will truly be missed.

After a long battle with cancer, God called her soul to a peaceful rest on June 2, 2021. Teresa leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: her brother, John T. “Nicky” Nickoless Jr., her children Tyrone, Sharrell, Tiffany, her grandchildren Taliyah, Tarjanae, Cadence, A’Niya, Neima, Zoe, her great grandson Caden, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members and friends. She is preceded by her mother Marie R. Nickoless-Collins, father
John T. Nickoless, and son-in-law: Russell R. Grant.
