Clyde’s earliest education began at age five at St. Leonard’s Boy’s School and continued on to The Modern High School in St. Michael, Barbados. After leaving school he qualified as an electrician and worked at the Barbados Lucas House in the city. In 1963 he left Barbados to join his oldest sister and her family in Montreal, Canada, and worked for a short time at the Children’s Hospital there. He then went on to New York where he eventually settled, studied, became a dental technician and worked for a company in Manhattan. He was very good at his craft and was fortunate to have a number of clients from the islands, who made him feel comfortable and reminded him that he was part of the Caribbean.
