Obituary for Cheryl Ferebee

Cheryl Ann Ferebee, age 61, died peacefully on August 1, 2020, in The Bronx, New York.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Gillian Leslie Ferebee-Coppage, of Manhattan, New York, her brother, Carlton Ferebee Sr., of Staten Island, New York, 20 nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her mother Frances Ferebee, of The Bronx New York, her father Anthony Ferebee, of Staten Island New York, her sister Peggye Ferebee, of Newark New Jersey, and her brother Michael Ferebee of The Bronx New York.

Cheryl was born on February 4, 1959 in Manhattan, New York, to parents Anthony and Frances Ferebee. She graduated from Bronx High School of Science in Bronx New York. Among many memorable positions in the medical field, in 2010 she accepted a position as a Nurse Care Manager, LPN at Good Shepherd Services, where she worked for more than ten years.

Cheryl was a great family matriarch and a loving mother. She was a social and adventurous soul who deeply cared for her family. Cheryl enjoyed making memories with family and friends, cooking with the enthusiasm of a Chef, being the resident family historian, and taking on memorable adventures as the free spirit she was. Her family and friends will always remember her as a generous, dedicated, caring, selfless, and passionate person.

Cheryl's bright smile, the kind of smile that would let everyone know her joy will not be limited in its expression to others. She spoke with conviction and knew how to disagree with what you thought in a loving way. In the midst of differing ideas, you would always feel the love Cheryl had for you.

A Viewing and Funeral Service is scheduled for 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm respectively on August 14, 2020, at McCall’s Bronxwood Funeral Home 4035 Bronxwood Avenue, Bronx, NY 10466. Steve Martino will officiate. A Live Stream of the service will also be provided on www.McCalls.net.

The family would like to thank The Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, The Calvary Hospital and Good Shepherd Services family for their support, kindness, and thoughtfulness during the journey of Cheryl’s life. Flowers and remembrances can be sent to Gillian Ferebee Coppage at 92 St. Nicholas Ave. Apt. 3F New York, New York 10026.
