Obituary for Jeanne Gibson
Jeanne Gibson (née: Pinnock) a long time resident of the Town of Cortlandt, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
Born in 1939, in Bluefields, Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies to Ernest Pinnock and Viola Lawrence, Jeanne immigrated to the States in 1968 and began her journey of becoming a citizen, establishing herself as a professional, becoming a mother and living the life she envisioned for herself and her family. Jeanne worked in the Healthcare field as a Nurses Aide as well as in the Secretarial field at a Law Firm for the majority of her career life.
Jeanne truly enjoyed gardening. She could often be found tending to her garden at all hours of the day and night. She found great joy in cultivating her roses and admiring her landscape from her kitchen window. Jeanne also enjoyed dancing and would enjoy a night out with her close girlfriends.
Jeanne is survived by her eldest daughter Stacey Futrell, grandchildren Marcus, Geneva and Marshall, sisters Yvonne, Louise and Minna, brothers Livingston and Copeland and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeanne’s youngest daughter, Dana Gibson, passed away in 2011. Jeanne also leaves behind many friends and other family members who loved her greatly and all of whom she equally adored.
