Condolence: I had the pleasure of meeting James when I traveled from Baltimore to the Bronx for a booksigning at Books in the Hood. He was talking to a group of young people about decision making. I remember he recited a poem called, "Pull Up Your Pants". I remember it was a well-delivered piece and you could see that his heart was really into it. I also remember how he had picked up the young men to come to the event and he also took them back home. We continued to talk on FB after the event. His memory in words will live on.

Condolence: The Almighty God, I do pray, is going to give you the love and the necessary strength to deal with this transition to ancestry. Like you Tutein Family, we are all hurt by this untimely farewell. We are your extended family through the love we will continue to have for James, who we know by his powerful name in poetry J-TU, and he will live forever through his works and how he touched our lives. Condolences,
Ronald Haynie
